Farewell, Dear Comrades

“Only in the agony of parting do we look into the depths of love.”

– George Elio

Forgive me, friends, for I do not have enough to say. I fear the longer I speak, the more my tears fall…

I present to you, my Kaomankai soldiers, the last gift from us..

“Hello, my name is Baitoey. I am the lead engineer of the KAO MAN KAI team. This is the last time we will see each other. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about what I’ve learned in this Design and Technology course. Firstly, I’ve learned about the Arduino board and how it works. Next, I learned about servo motors and we did a Bipedal robot project. Lastly, the most important thing that I’ve learned is teamwork. We always help each other with whatever problem we have. I’ve learned to coordinate with my team. But nothing stays forever. If I left this school, I’d miss all of my friends and teachers here. I’ll miss the atmosphere where everyone is talking and laughing together. I’ll miss this lovely class. I hope you all have a wonderful life and live the way you want.”

“Hello my name is View I’m a media producer for the Kao man kai team I think I’m going to miss this school and my friends a lot because I moved to another school. My friends at this school are really nice and always support me I don’t want to say that much I’m afraid I’m going to cry.  And the important thing that I learned from this class is  I have tried connecting the circuit  Like never before and practiced as a team work too teacher Elmer is also very kind to me. I will conclude that this class gave me a lot of lessons. If I can come back to my friend or this school, I will definitely come back to my friends and teachers again. Thank you.”

“Hi, my name is Ploy, the programmer from the Kao Man Kai team. I am proud to say that we have learned a lot from this class, such as teamwork. Thanks to T. Elmer, who taught us. I hadn’t imagined the time when I need to be separated from my friends until now. I would be missing them very much. All of them are the best people I have ever met. And last, I would like to say that it was very nice to meet you guys. Please don’t let it rain in your hearts.”

“As much as my heart sinks at the thought of saying goodbye, I’m afraid we’ll have to part ways eventually. I hope I’ll look back on today with a smile on my face since I wouldn’t have gone this far without my friends, teachers, and myself. I’ve learned so much from this course, which is robotics. My old self wouldn’t believe that I’d endeavoured to turn in all the assignments on time throughout all these months – I had always been such a slacker! I also picked up a few writing techniques as a token of my hard work. More importantly, though, my friends and I enjoyed working together, causing our friendship to nurture. Thank you so much for everything you’ve done. I’m indebted to all of you. – Love, Patta.”

We didn’t realise we were making memories. We just knew we were having fun.

Bipedal Robot (Programming)

Our last meal together..

Every journey has its final day, they say. My dear comrades, we’re nearing our end.

The last artifact has been obtained. Victory is ours, Kaomankai soldiers!

Ahem, in regard to our Kaomankai empire glory, I would love for everyone to offer themselves a round of applause. We would not have got this far without our brave soldiers’ sweat and tears!

Which brings me to the last introduction:

  • The 17th media producer – View
  • The 20th programmer – Ploy
  • The 21st lead engineer – Baitoey
  • And lastly, the 27th media journalist – Patta
Should you recall the last time I spoke of a 'prototype', I am here to declare that we have built an actual product...

Components

Prior to our brave soldiers’ last week’s duty, they continued where they left off – adjusting certain parts of the circuit.

Look at how marvellous our robotic machine is! Our lead engineer was connecting the wires to a breadboard, which is the back of our robot. Just following instructions, I guess..

Time for our programmer to shine! In order for us to test our intelligent machine, we need to enter a secret code and plug in the USB cable to the computer. Well, it’s some arcane language. Never mind it.

We’re halfway through. Our servo motors are doing their jobs – moving around. Hopefully, we’ll get to see the robot dance soon.

Don’t blink! This is one crucial step.. The servo motors are the legs of the robot. Make sure to be careful with attaching its legs. We’re about to finish..

Ta-dah! What a sight to behold..

How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.

Bipedal Robot (Prototype)

My dear Kaomankai comrades, it fills me with melancholy and joy that our journey is drawing to an end.

With time flying beyond call, what brings us together will take us apart.

Notwithstanding, there is no time to shed tears. We must move forward, soldiers! Let’s make our last mission a night to remember.

Apologies if I sound like a broken record, but this might be the last time for our brave warriors..

On our last sea voyage, they ought to obtain the Bipedal Robot – its prototype. The good news is we’ve discovered the remains. Regarding your questions, I shall answer them.

What does the robot comprise?

  • Arduino UNO Board
  • USB cable
  • Micro Servo Motor (4)
  • Jumper Wires
  • Breadboard
  • Glue gun

First thing first, you ought to get all the materials ready. In this case, a glue gun will come in handy later on. Please exercise caution when in contact with it.

Our lead engineer is adept at building circuits. As you can see in the image, she was connecting the wires based on the pattern given below. Fear not, the procedure for the artifiact is closely linked to the previous one we composed last week.

And just like any good scientist, you put your hypothesis to the test by doing an experiment. Our programmer was testing the new-made circuit using the Arduino app.

Nothing but being goofy with my leader.. There should be a balance between playtime and work time!

As always, the media journalist is writing another blog.. I can’t neglect the Kaomankai empire!

Four Micro Servo Motors

Every journey has its final days – don’t rush. I, the Kaomankai captain (the media journalist, you mean?), would love to announce that we’re another step forward to our victory.

Appetizing, eh?

Allow me to raise a toast to the brave soldiers who went to a faraway land for the Kaomankai empire, securing a valuable artifact.

Princess View – the 17th daughter

Princess Ploy – the 20th daughter

Princess Baitoey – the 21st daughter

Ahem, I’m not qualified to be a royal and therefore should be introduced as:

Patta – the 27th disgrace, oops!

Uh-huh, do you wish to get your hands on the treasure? It has a name, you know? Call it ‘Four Micro Servo Motors’

I'll keep you in the picture real quick. The artifact contains:

How on earth did our heroic knights obtain such a heavenly Arduino UNO board? Let’s find out!

Here’s to our lead engineer – diligently building a circuit by plugging in each wire to its outlet. Although we have a model to follow, the artifact itself is fragile, and one mistake can foul up the whole system!

You won’t believe this, but our programmer has to write a sketch on her own. Really tricky! She nailed it, didn’t she?

This is me right now.. Making a blog and updating you Kaomankai soldiers! I know, I know. It’s a tough job..

Ta-dah! This is the final product. Amazing, right? All thanks to our brave soldiers’ hard work! As you can see, there are 4 servo motors this time and a breadboard as well.

Ahem, enough tea for today. I shall return soon.

Glory to the Kaomankai Empire!

Regarding December

My dear Kaomankai fellows.. It fills me with such delight to finally have the opportunity to utter these few words..

Ho, ho, ho! Santa is coming.

In light of the sacred festival, why don’t you give yourself a pat on the back for having come this far? The Kaomankai empire wouldn’t have made it without you guys’ dedication, patience, and peace! And for that, we must express our thanks.

Here's a video of our brave warriors wishing everyone Merry Christmas!

The ethereal media producer who has been with us until the very end – View, 17

The enchanting programmer who knows how to get things under control – Ploy, 20

The beloved engineer whose mind is unwavering and determined – Baitoey, 21

The true media journalist who has a penchant for mischief – Patta, 27

And lastly, the Kaomankai soldiers have reunited!

I hope the magic of Christmas fills every corner of your heart and home with joy — now and always.

Moving Two Micro Servo Motors

Psst! Are you hungry?

Good dawning, my Kaomankai friends. Fate has brought us together today and thus fills me with so much joy. Once again, I am here to deliver great news.

Before that, let’s bow down to our distinguished soldiers who brought glory to our Kaomankai empire!

View 17, the media producer

Ploy 20, the programmer

Baitoey 21, the lead engineer,

At last, Patta, the media journalist.

Ah, good news. We just took possession of one of the most precious gems. Huh, you guys don’t know what it is? Okay, allow me to explain this to you briefly.

The item goes by the name of Moving Two Micro Servo Motors and is made of the following:

  • Arduino UNO Board
  • USB cable
  • Jumper Wires
  • Micro Servo Motor (2)
  • Notwithstanding the recipe of the artifact being lost to time, our Kaomankai soldiers didn’t falter! So here we are, with a set of instructions for you friends to follow.

    The very first thing you have to do is be like our lead engineer. Look at how determined she is! Just kidding – you need to connect those wires together as shown on the laptop. Not too hard for the Kaomankai warriors.

    As you can see, our respectable programmer is typing ‘gibberish’ aka the sketch into her ‘laptop’ (I don’t know what it is! I’m from the 13th century.)

    The artifact (circuit) is supposed to look like this. Otherwise, you might have to be back to square one!

    Time to shine! For your information, I’m your favourite media journalist who writes everything down.. This is me creating a blog for our Kaomankai kingdom!!

    View, the media producer, contrived such a masterpiece for us! The artifact is breathtaking.. Watch how it moves.

    Let’s call it a day, my Kaomankai fellows. See you on the other side.

    Centering Two Micro Servo Motors

    Greetings, my beloved Kaomankai soldiers. We've been deprived of your company for so long - at this juncture, let's unite again. Drinks on me!

    Without further ado, allow me to bring you up to speed with our dignified warriors. And here they are..

    View, the media producer 17th

    Ploy, the programmer 20th

    Baitoey, the lead engineer 21st

    Finally, Patta, the media journalist 27th

    Once again, one of the greatest gifts from our gods has been bestowed upon us. The ‘Centering Two Micro Servo Motors’ is now in our possession!

    The artifact is composed of:

    • Arduino UNO Board
    • Breadboard
    • Jumper Wires
    • Micro Servo Motor (2)

    Here’s a brief look of the sketch

    Let our brave warriors recount how they got hold of the mystic treasure.. In detail, hopefully.

    First step: our almighty lead engineer successfully connected the wires with the Arduino board.
    Second step: recheck whether the wires are in order or not! You wouldn't want to go back after you realised you'd messed up the first step, right?
    Third step: the programmer, Ploy, explaining each lines of the sketch. Look at how diligent she is!
    Forth step: Ah, the awkward media journalist recording all that's happened. Otherwise, the other Kaomankai warriors wouldn't have the process written down!

    A full view of our prized possession, the Centering Two Micro Servo Motors!

    *Bell rings* oh, time to set sail! For the Kaomankai glory!

    Centering and Moving One Micro Servo Motor

    Long time no see, my Kaomankai comrades. Today marks the prosperous start of our journey; herein lies our very first victory. Let’s push the boat out!

    To those who have bigger fish to fry, please avail yourself of this ‘search’ function.

    Ahem, in honor of our brave warriors who not only strain every nerve to obtain the precious treasure but also put their life at stake for us, we shall raise a toast to them:

    Miss View, the media producer from the 17th!

    Miss Ploy, the programmer from the 20th!

    Miss Baitoey, the lead engineer from the 21st!

    Last but not least, I, the almighty media journalist, from the 27th!

    We chirpily present you the magical artifact, “Moving One Micro Servo Motor”, which is an Arduino circuit. But… I’ll guide you through the process of reaping it first.

    The elements you will need:

    •  Arduino UNO Board
    • USB cable
    • Micro Servo Motor (1)
    • Jumper Wires
    Our media producer went the extra mile for all of us to access this website: arduino.cc and then installed Arduino IDE 1 (Windows).

    Subsequent to the Arduino IDE 1 installation Miss Ploy penned this code on the electrical instrument (computer):
    #include <Servo.h>
    Servo myServo;
    int delayTime = 1000;
    void setup()
    {
    myServo.attach(2);
    }
    void loop()
    {
    myServo.write(90);
    delay(delayTime);
    myServo.write(180);
    delay(delayTime);
    myServo.write(90);
    delay(delayTime);
    myServo.write(0);
    delay(delayTime);
    }

    Our lead engineer professionally affixed the wires to the Arduino board. Utilise the model as your reference!

    We're almost there. One crucial step: incentivise the Arduino board by plugging in the USB cable.

    Phew! All done.

    A demonstration of what our prized possession can do. See how it moves? How sentimental - beautifully inspiring.

    Oh, my! I lost track of the time. Let’s call it a day – I’m hitting the sack soon.

    Once again, my Kaomankai warriors, you’ve saved the world.

    Our paths will cross anon.
